Let God Take the Wheel

3 Jan

I’d planned to write a post yesterday morning, but with all the running around I’m doing right now to try to find a new car to replace the one that got totaled, I just didn’t have the time. I also wasn’t planning on the thin layer of ice that is covering the roads and everything else this morning. And I certainly didn’t plan on 2018 ending the way it did, with my wife and daughter having an accident!

This time of year many of us plan for the coming year, making resolutions and listing the things we want to accomplish. Of course, we can plan all we want, but none of us can see the future. Inevitably things will come up we hadn’t planned on, circumstances will change and we’ll have to adjust.

Thankfully, “The Lord works everything out to its proper end…” Proverbs 16:4 NIV. It’s so comforting to know our Heavenly Father is already planning this next year for you and He plans “to prosper you and not to harm you…to give you a hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

In 2019 I intend to take a little different approach. Instead of trying to plan every detail of my life, just to watch all my plans go up in smoke, I’m going to take Solomon’s advice to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6

This year why not join me and let God plan your days? Start each morning with prayer, surrendering your life to direction. In this journey called life let Him take the wheel, then see what happens. One thing I can promise – we’re in for an adventure! I can hardly wait!

A Brand New Start

1 Jan

I love New Year’s Day!

I know New Year’s just another day on the calendar, but it feels like a pause in the cycle of life, a fresh new start. All my mistakes, my failures, of the past year are just that – in the past. The future is an empty canvas ready to be filled with hopes and dreams and new adventures. Today I get a new beginning!

The neat thing about being one of God’s children is every day is New Year’s, a new beginning! No matter how badly I’ve screwed up, no matter how disgusting my sin, my God loves me. 1 John 1:9, promises, “if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins…”

And it doesn’t end there! God doesn’t just forgive our sins, but will also “…cleanse us from all wickedness.” In fact, God promises in 1 Corinthians 5:17, “that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person.” We get a new start! A new beginning! “The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”

This New Year’s Day, start your year out right. Give Jesus your heart and get a brand new start!

God bless and have a great 2019!
